NCAA ROUND OF 16 TOURNAMENT CENTRAL

COLUMBIA, S.C. – Two South Carolina women’s soccer forwards were honored this week by national publications as junior Brooke Jacobs was selected to the CollegeSoccer360 Primetime Performer list and sophomore Kayla Grimsley was named to the TopDrawerSoccer national team of the week.

Jacobs earned her first career national team of the week honor after leading the Gamecocks to wins in the NCAA tournament games against Davidson and Rutgers. Against the Wildcats, Jacobs hit the game-winning goal and added an assist in the second half. She followed the effort up with the game-winning goal to defeat the Scarlet Knights. She has now scored in South Carolina’s last three NCAA tournament matches and leads the team with three game-winning goals this season.

Grimsley continued her stellar player for the Gamecocks by knocking in two goals against the Wildcats, the first multi-goal effort in an NCAA tournament match by a Gamecock. She currently leads the team with 13 goals and is one shy of the program record set in 1997. This season she has already set the sophomore records for goals (13), assists (7) and points (33).

South Carolina will host Wake Forest in the NCAA Round of 16 Friday night at 7 p.m. The first 350 students to show up at Stone Stadium will receive free admission courtesy of the Anderson County Gamecock Club and the Courtyard Marriott (Assembly Street).
