Recap | Final Stats

South Carolina Head Coach Darrin Horn
Opening Statement…
Pretty unusual to see that you have 26 more shots than the other team and not come out on top. Difference of the game was they made shots and we didn’t. In the second half even when we did some positive things we couldn’t string enough together – even when it was an 11-point game – to get over the top. We have to be good at the little things. I think this team (Baylor) is about as talented as you can find when you talk about things that make up a talented team – length, athleticism, they’re big, they got guys that can score, they really shoot it at a lot of different positions.

What to take from today’s game…
We can take again the same stuff we’ve been talking about, when you play good teams you have to execute and do things better at the end of the half. And continue to do the little things. We were pretty good in our press, but some of the time they scored it didn’t have anything to do with rotating or the kind of easy baskets you sometimes give up when you’re pressing. A few times they just dropped their shoulder and drove the basketball.

On Lakeem Jackson’s play…
We’ve been playing him a lot (at the No. 4 position) for weeks. I think that as we move forward it is going to be dependent on match-ups and how much we are going to press and who is playing well. He is good in the press and a little bit of a match-up problem offensively which we saw tonight with the way he drives the basketball when he catches it in the middle of the floor. I think we will see him do that a lot.
