BLYTHEWOOD, S.C. – The fourth-ranked South Carolina equestrian team returned from winter break over the weekend and held its first practice of the spring semester at One Wood Farm on Monday.
“The horses have had a good bit of time off, so today was about seeing where they are physically and getting them back into shape,” head coach Boo Major said. “We also used today to see how the riders looked, and considering the cold temperatures, I’m very happy with the way everyone looked.”
The Gamecocks (4-3) finished the fall semester winning three of their last four competitions, including a victory at No. 9 New Mexico state on Nov. 21. Major said she hopes her riders continue their winning ways in the spring.
“We’re going to be riding against some pretty solid teams this semester, so hopefully our girls start the spring semester the way they finished the fall semester,” Major said.
The Gamecocks return to action on January 30 at 10 a.m. when South Carolina hosts No. 5 Oklahoma State.
