COLUMBIA, S.C. – University of South Carolina center Kelsey Bone (Houston, Texas/Dulles) earned her third SEC Freshman of the Week honor of the season today after helping the Gamecocks to a pair of road victories last week, including a 10-point decision at No. 14/14 Georgia. Bone’s efforts lifted the Gamecocks’ SEC record to 6-5 and produced back-to-back league road wins for the first time since the 2005-06 seasons.

Bone won the battle of the post players in the Gamecocks’ 61-58 win at Auburn on Thursday, posting her seventh double-double of the season with 24 points and 14 rebounds, one shy of her career high. Among those 14 boards were a season-best eight on the offensive end of the floor. In the win at Georgia, Bone turned in eight points and six rebounds to finish the week averaging 16.0 points and 10.0 rebounds.

Overall this season, Bone ranks among the league’s top 10 scorers (14.5 ppg) and is second in rebounding (9.3 rpg). She has scored in double figures 18 times in the team’s 23 games, including five games of 20 or more points.

South Carolina puts its two-game win streak on the line in a pair of home games this week, beginning on Thu., Feb. 11, in a 7 p.m. tipoff against Mississippi State at Colonial Life Arena.
