COLUMBIA, S.C. – Valerie Nainima from the Gamecock women’s basketball team has been named AgSouth Athlete of the Week.

Nainima posted back-to-back 20-point games, giving her nine on the season. She led the team with 21 points at No. 14/14 Georgia and hit a key 3-pointer to stop an 8-0 Bulldog run in the second half.

The victory at Georgia was just the Gamecocks’ second ever in Athens and marked back-to-back SEC road wins for South Carolina for the first time since 2006. It was also South Carolina’s first road win over a top-15 team since 2002 and first over a team ranked in the top 15 since 2005.
