â€¢ Records: South Carolina improves to 14-9 overall, 5-4 in SEC play. Florida falls to 17-7 overall, 6-4 in the SEC. The Gamecocks are 11-2 in games played at Colonial Life Arena this season, 4-1 against SEC foes. The Gators continue to hold a 36-21 advantage in the all-time series, including a 17-13 margin in games played in Columbia; however, the Gamecocks have won the last two home meetings with Florida. The teams have split the season series each of the last two years.
â€¢ Head Coach Darrin Horn: Improves to 146-67 in his seventh year as a collegiate head coach, 35-19 in his second year at South Carolina. He is now 2-3 against Florida, including a 1-2 mark as South Carolina’s head coach.
â€¢ Double-Digits: Tonight marks the 17th time this season that the Gamecocks have had at least three scorers in double figures; it’s the third time in nine SEC games. Devan Downey, Brandis Raley-Ross and Sam Muldrow all scored 10 points or more tonight.
â€¢ Two for Twenty: It’s the first time this year that two Gamecocks (Downey and Raley-Ross) have hit for 20 points or more. The last time was the Gamecocks’ loss to Vanderbilt on Feb. 28, 2009, when Downey and Zam Fredrick scored 24 and 21, respectively, against the Commodores at Memorial Gym in Nashville.
â€¢ Career High for Raley-Ross: Brandis Raley-Ross matched his career-best scoring output with 20 points on the night, matching his total against Campbell on Nov. 28, 2007. Raley-Ross scored 17 of those 20 in the second half, including several crucial free throws down the stretch.
â€¢ Devan Downey: Downey topped the 20-point mark for the ninth straight game and the 14th time this year. He finished with 24 points, his 22nd time in double-figures in 23 games this season. He also racked up four steals, two assists and four rebounds, and he was 11-of-12 from the free throw line.
â€¢ Sam Muldrow: Muldrow hit for double-digits for the second time in three games with a 16-point night. He had eight rebounds to give him a total of 56 over his last five games (11.2 average). Muldrow also had three blocked shots in the game.
â€¢ Streak Continues: Though it took a bit longer than usual, the Gamecocks extended their streak of consecutive games with at least one 3-point field goal to 258 straight games as Devan Downey knocked down the team’s first trey at the 17:02 mark of the second half. South Carolina finished the game with six three-pointers on 22 attempts.
