COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina senior Pedro Campos was named Southeastern Conference Men’s Tennis Player of the Week, the league office announced today. Campos won all four of his matches last week against nationally ranked opponents in helping the Gamecocks to a win over No. 25 Nebraska and a narrow loss to No. 14 Mississippi.

Facing nationally ranked singles opponents for the first time this season, Campos, who broke into the national rankings himself last week at No. 125, picked up wins against both. He opened the week with a match-clinching victory over No. 82 Calin Paar of Nebraska before battling back from a set down to defeat Ole Miss’ Marcel Thiemann, ranked No. 59 in the nation. In doubles action, Campos teamed with fellow senior Diego Cubas to dismiss Nebraska’s top tandem of Parr and David Bendheim, ranked No. 73 in the country, and No. 51 Tucker Vorster and Jonas Lutjen of Ole Miss.

This season, Campos has a team-best 11-1 dual-match record, including a perfect 4-0 mark in SEC action. In doubles, he is 10-4 this spring, including a 3-2 record against nationally ranked opponents.
