FROM THE DESK OF Eric Hyman

May 18, 2010

Dear Gamecock Fans:

The Athletics Department is buzzing with the title hopes of our baseball team after its tremendous performance in Arkansas over the weekend. As a department, we talk on a regular basis about the “Garnet Way” which, in part, is about battling for championships.

We have an opportunity to see a championship determined right in our own backyard this weekend, when the SEC regular-season baseball champion will be crowned at Carolina Stadium. Two of the top teams in the nation will get together as the Gamecocks host the Florida Gators in a three-game, winner-take-all series that begins Thursday night.

This weekend, and hopefully for two more weekends over the next month – the NCAA Regionals and the Super Regionals – is the reason we built Carolina Stadium and the reason we believe our commitment to top-of-the-line facilities is important. We want to host those events and give our squad the best chance to continue its march towards Omaha and the College World Series. The team has responded to our home field advantage to the tune of a 25-4 record this season.

We are getting close to a sellout for all three games of this important series. Let’s fill the ballpark, proudly wearing our Garnet in rooting the Gamecocks to victory! If you have tickets to any of the games but are unable to attend, we encourage you to give them to someone who will use them. We want as many fans as possible to be part of this memorable weekend. If you are unable to get tickets, you won’t miss a pitch, as all three games will be televised. What a positive impression a full stadium can make on all those fans tuning in to watch. See you at the ballpark!

Eric

P.S. Good luck wishes go out to our men’s and women’s golf teams that are competing in their respective NCAA Tournaments this week. Like baseball, they are battling for championships – the Garnet Way!
