COLUMBIA, S.C. – The University of South Carolina women’s soccer team remains a hot ticket in the television market as two home SEC matches were recently selected for national broadcasts, adding to the three home conference matches that were previously picked up as part of the SEC-ESPN contract. With the additional selections, five of South Carolina’s six home SEC matches will be available on regional or national television.

The No. 12 Gamecocks were selected as the NSCAA National Game of the Week for the Friday, Oct. 1 home date against Ole Miss, making the 7 p.m. match a nationally televised game on the Fox Soccer Channel. Coach Shelley Smith’s program also announced that the regular season finale against No. 11 Florida on Friday, Oct. 29 will be broadcast on SUN Sports at 7 p.m.

The Fox Soccer Channel broadcast against Ole Miss will be the second game of a double-header, meaning that the game will remain at 7 p.m., but it will be televised on a four-hour delay following the Maryland-Duke men’s soccer match that will be shown live at 8 p.m. The contest between the Gamecocks and Rebels marks the third time in four years that South Carolina will appear on the Fox Soccer Channel after playing Tennessee in 2007 and Florida in 2008.

South Carolina is one of only two schools in the nation to have both its men’s and women’s programs featured on the NSCAA Game of the Week this year. The Gamecock men’s team will host rival Clemson on Friday, Sept. 3 at 8 p.m. as part of the network package. Fans can get their first look at the 2010 team and get signed posters at the Fan Appreciation Day scheduled for Sunday, Aug. 15 at 12:30 p.m. Season Tickets for the 2010 season are currently on sale.
