South Carolina vs. USC Upstate Post-Game Notes (11/23/10)

TEAM NOTES

•The Gamecocks have used the same starting lineup in every game this season (Cook-Jackson-Muldrow-Richardson-Ellington).
• South Carolina has won the rebounding battle in all four games this season. The Gamecocks out-rebounded the Spartans 55-34.
• The month of November has been kind to South Carolina. The victory improves the Gamecocks to 76-28 (.731) all-time in November.
• South Carolina improves to 2-0 in the all-time series against the Spartans. The Gamecocks earned a 75-53 win in Columbia on Nov. 22, 2008.
• The 46 combined points at halftime (SC 24-22) were the fewest combined points in a game this season for either team.
• Holding a 31-28 lead with 13:47 remaining in the second half, South Carolina went on a 14-0 run over the next 7:22 to put the game out of reach.
• USC Upstate was held to a 15-for-58 (.259) night from the floor, marking the first time the Gamecocks held an opponent to less than 30% from the field since Georgia shot .273 (29-for-53) on March 7, 2009.
• USC Upstate’s Babatund Olumuyiwa blocked nine shots. The last player to block five or more shots against the Gamecocks was LaSalle’s Aaric Murray on Nov. 19, 2009 (in Charleston, S.C.).

INDIVIDUAL NOTES

#23 Bruce Ellington
• Bruce Ellington has registered a steal in every game this year.
• For the first time this season Ellington did not dish at least five assists in the game.

#12 Ramon Galloway
• Ramon Galloway is one of two Gamecocks to hit a three-pointer in every game this season (along with Brian Richardson). He finished 2-for-3 from beyond the arc.
• Ramon Galloway led the team in scoring for the first time this season with 12 points.

#30 Lakeem Jackson
• Dating back to Friday’s win against Radford, Lakeem Jackson made seven consecutive free throws (4-for-4 vs Radford, 3-for-3 vs USC Upstate).
• Lakeem Jackson tied his season high with four assists on the night.
• Lakeem Jackson has registered a steal in every game this year.

#32 Johndre Jefferson
• Johndre Jefferson finished with a season-high six points.

#2 Brian Richardson
• With his three-pointer just 3:54 into the game, Richardson has hit a three-pointer in every game this season. He entered the match shooting .500 from beyond the arc (8-for-16).
• Brian Richardson did not score double-digits for the first time in his career. He finished with three points.

#33 R.J. Slawson
• R.J. Slawson dished a career-high two assists.

#1 Stephen Spinella
• After hitting double-digits in South Carolina’s last two games, Stephen Spinella was held scoreless against the Spartans. He only attempted one shot on the night.

UP NEXT

South Carolina travels to Western Kentucky on Saturday, Nov. 27 at E.A. Diddle Arena. That match is scheduled to tipoff at 7 p.m. and will be broadcast live by the Hilltopper Sports Network in Bowling Green, Ky. The match will be South Carolina coach Darrin Horn’s first trip to his alma-mater since leaving in 2008 to take the head coaching job at South Carolina.
