South Carolina vs. Delaware State Post-Game Notes (12/1/10)
TEAM NOTES
• The Gamecocks have used the same starting lineup in every game this season (Cook-Jackson-Muldrow-Richardson-Ellington).
• South Carolina has won the rebounding battle in all six games this season. The Gamecocks out-rebounded the Hornets 33-30.
• South Carolina owns an all-time record of 19-1 (.950) against current schools in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference. The Gamecocks are unbeaten at home against MEAC schools.
• The game was the first meeting between South Carolina and Delaware State. The Hornets are 0-7 all-time against Southeastern Conference schools.
• South Carolina went 16:59 before hitting its first free throw of the game. Brian Richardson sank two free throws with 3:01 remaining in the first half to put an end to an 0-for-3 start to the game from the charity stripe.
• For the second straight game, South Carolina trailed at halftime with Delaware State holding a 37-35 lead at the break. South Carolina rallied after the break to win the game for the second straight game.
• Six players had at least one steal against Delaware State. South Carolina has had at least five players with a steal in five of six games this season (Michigan State was the lone exception).
• The technical foul called on Delaware State’s Marques Oliver was the first technical foul called this year on a South Carolina opponent.
• Under head coach Darrin Horn, South Carolina improves to 3-0 in games after playing an overtime game. In 2008-09, the Gamecocks defeated Princeton (84-58) and Kentucky (77-59) after playing overtimes games against College of Charleston and Arkansas.
• South Carolina is 43-37 all-time in games after playing an overtime game (***four other overtime games were the final game of the season for the Gamecocks).
• Four Gamecocks were in double figures for the second straight game. Reaching double figures against the Hornets were Malik Cooke (12), Lakeem Jackson (12), Johndre Jefferson (11) and Brian Richardson (12).
• South Carolina shot 51.8 percent (29-for-56) from the field, the second time this year the Gamecocks shot over 50 percent. South Carolina shot 53 percent (35-for-66) against Elon in the season opener.
INDIVIDUAL NOTES
#12 Ramon Galloway
• Dished a career high three assists, tying his previous season and career high of three assists set this year against Radford.
#24 Damontre Harris
• Had a career-high three blocks in the game.
#30 Lakeem Jackson
• Had a hand in South Carolina’s first 10 points. He opened Carolina’s scoring with two field goals, registered a steal and forced another steal that led to fast break points and added an assist to Malik Cooke for the 10th South Carolina point of the game.
#32 Johndre Jefferson
• Scored a season high with 11 points in the game.
#44 Sam Muldrow
• Is now 67 blocks shy of the South Carolina all-time record that is held by Brandon Wallace (249). Muldrow had three blocks Wednesday night.
#2 Brian Richardson
• Scored a career-high 12 points. It was Richardson’s fourth game in double-figures this season.
• Has made a three-pointer in every game this season for South Carolina. He went 1-for-4 from beyond the arc Wednesday night.
#1 Stephen Spinella
• Ended a two-game scoring drought with his five points.
• Registered his third career block in the first half of the game.
