Post Game Quotes vs. Jacksonville State Dec. 29, 2010

South Carolina Head Coach Darrin Horn
Opening Statement

The game obviously was not pretty, but it was a win. It was a win in a way that we felt like our team needed. I thought we stressed “team” (tonight). We felt like the last couple of games we got away from our strength, which is our team. I thought we solved that tonight. I don’t know if we played great, but I think we saw some really positive signs with how we moved the basketball, our whole defensive effort … I really thought we did some good things tonight that we can build on heading into a tough game on Saturday.

On the lineup
We wanted to re-evaluate where we are with some things heading into the game tonight. We’ve had three guys, really four, that have been pretty consistent and kind of do things in a way for our team that are pretty solid night in and night out. That other spot, we’re kind of looking at something different.

On playing so many freshman
I think inside the last two minutes we settled down and did what we needed to do. I think that’s going to be an ongoing process with this team. You’re rarely going to look out there without a couple of freshman in, regardless of how good they are. We’re never going to have anyone but Sam (Muldrow) with more than a year experience.

On Ramon Galloway
I thought he did a really good job tonight. He really brought us good stuff and was solid defensively. That’s going to be the key. That’s why we keep talking about team.

Jacksonville State Head Coach James Green
Opening Statement
I was pleased with our effort. I was pleased with most of our details. We were kicked on the rebounds pretty good, but our guys did a good job of going back to the offensive boards. We had a number of unforced turnovers that you can’t afford to have in a game on the road against an opponent like South Carolina. We held them down in the second half.

We had a number of positive things happen. Overall Stephen Hall and Jeremy Bynum didn’t shoot as they were capable, but they were keyed in on. Combined they were 11-for-26 which is not terrible but it’s not great. They probably could have been 11-for-22 in a game like this. That’s what we would need from them.
