COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina head women’s golf coach Kalen Anderson announced today that the Gamecocks have signed Justine Dreher to a National Letter of Intent for the 2011-12 season.

Dreher, a native of Chatou, France, has put together an impressive list of accomplishments as one of the top junior golfers in France. After picking up the game in 2002, she was the runner-up at the 2006 French Youth Championship. She earned her first tournament victory in 2008 at the Grand Prix de Cap d’Agde, then later that year finished in the top 15 at the Internationaux Juniors Filles and was the top French player in the field.

Other wins for Dreher came in May 2008 at the Grand Prix de Amneville, October 2009 at the Internationaux de France Dames Stroke Play, and in April 2010 at the Grand Prix de Limere. She also was part of the French National Team, which won at the Quadrangulaire in 2009 against Austria, Italy and Norway. In addition, Dreher racked up 12 other top-10 finishes, and qualified for the 2009 Girls British Open Championship.

“We’re excited to have Justine Dreher join us next year,” Anderson said. “She’s going to be a great addition. She’s the French national amateur champion, She has a lot of experience, and she’s an incredible ball-striker. I think she’s going to be a superstar for us, and I look forward to watching her develop over the next four years.”

As of December, Dreher was ranked 10th among French amateur golfers and currently stands at No. 216 in the overall Ladies European Amateur Rankings.

Dreher is the only member of the 2011-12 signing class for the Gamecocks as the current roster has no graduating seniors, one junior, two sophomores and three freshmen.
