BLYTHEWOOD – The sixth-ranked South Carolina equestrian team returns to action on Saturday, when the Gamecocks host defending national champion and third-ranked Georgia at 1 p.m. at One Wood Farm.

“Georgia has always had great teams, and they’re no different this season,” South Carolina head coach Boo Major. “They are strong in all four events and we know our girls will have to ride well on Saturday to give us a chance.”

The Gamecocks are 3-5 and coming off a 12-6 win at No. 8 Baylor on Sunday. Georgia is 6-1 overall and is competing for the first time since Nov. 20, when the Bulldogs won 14-2 at Fresno State.

Saturday’s competition will also serve as the Gamecocks’ annual “Equi-Fest,” as there will be a variety of games, activities, and arts & crafts for kids to participate in. Admission to all Equestrian events is free and all Equi-Fest events are free of charge as well.

Paige Dekko – 2-4 overall record
Colvin Hedgepeth – 5-3 record in Equitation, started the season with a 4-competition winning streak
Emma Johnson – 3-2 record in Equitation
Kimberly McCormack – 2-4 record in Equitation

Alex Foster – first Equitation Over Fences competition of the season
Tilden Brighton – 0-3 record in Equitation Over Fences
Carolyn Curcio – 6-2 record in Equitation Over Fences
Paige Dekko – 2-3 record in Equitation Over Fences
Kimberly McCormack – 3-4 record in Equitation Over Fences

Horsemanship
Maggie Fortune – 3-3 record in Horsemanship, coming off an MVP ride at Baylor on Sunday

Directions to One Wood Farm: Take I-77 N. to Exit 27, which is Blythewood Road. Turn left and cross back over I-77 and pass Cobblestone Park. Then turn right on the first road on the right, which is Syrup Mill Road. One Wood Farm is the first driveway down on the left, and it will be marked by a large sign with a Gamecock logo.
