SOUTH CAROLINA VS GEORGIA POST GAME NOTES (2/12/11)

TEAM NOTES

• South Carolina returned to its starting lineup of Muldrow-Harris-Jackson-Richardson-Ellington for the first time since the team hosted Kentucky on Jan. 22. The team went 1-4 in the games without the lineup.
• Junior Malik Cooke was playing his first game against former coach Mark Fox. Fox coached Cooke at the University of Nevada at Reno from 2007-09.
• Georgia now leads the all-time series 48-47.
• Georgia held a 28-9 lead at halftime. South Carolina’s nine points were the fewest in a half since the Gamecocks were held to 13 on two occasions: at Florida on Feb. 21, 2007 and against Ole Miss on Jan. 8, 2003.
• After going 0-for-12 from 3 in the first half, South Carolina hit its first two attempts in the second half with Brian Richardson sinking both in the opening two minutes of the period.
• South Carolina hit 14 consecutive free throws in the second half, an improvement from the 1-for-4 effort in the first half.

INDIVIDUAL NOTES

#15 Malik Cooke
• Hit a season and Gamecock high of 15 points after going 5-for-11 from the field and 5-for-7 from the charity stripe.

#23 Bruce Ellington
• Was held scoreless for the first 35 minutes, going 0-for-10 from the field in that span.

#32 Johndre Jefferson
• Earned his most extensive playing time of the SEC season this year with nine minutes.
• Tied his season high with one steal. Also had his first block since rejecting five shots against Auburn.

#44 Sam Muldrow
• Collected four blocks and surpassed Brandon Wallace (249) for first place in the Gamecock history books. Muldrow currently has 251 blocks for his career.
• Muldrow’s second block at 15:01 of Georgia’s Chris Barnes tied the school record that was held by Brandon Wallace at 249.
n Set the South Carolina record for blocks at 8:17 when he rejected a lay-up by Georgia’s Chris Barnes, moving Muldrow to 250 all-time.
• Tied his career high with two steals, the 13th time he collected two thefts.
• Tied his season high with two made 3-pointers — both coming in the second half.

#33 R.J. Slawson
• Scored his highest point total in SEC play with eight points, surpassing the previous SEC-high of three set against Arkansas and Florida earlier this year. He came two shy of his career high set in the season opener against Elon.
• Tied his career high with 15 minutes played.

UP NEXT

• South Carolina travels to Tennessee next Wednesday, Feb. 16, for a 7 p.m. tip off against the Volunteers. The game will be broadcast live on CSS and is the first matchup this season between the Gamecocks and Vols.
