South Carolina Head Coach Dawn On if the team is thinking about its postseason possibilities
From a coaching staff standpoint, we think about it all the time, but we can’t pass that down to our players. The more we add to it, the more pressure it puts on the players. We want our players to play as normal as possible and as fresh as possible, and the only way to do that is to take it one game at a time. We just say one game at a time. We do talk about the standings and the seeding situation as far as the SEC Tournament, but that’s as far as we go. And for that, we control our own destiny.
On the team’s resiliency
I think resiliency is what our team has been about. We have short memories. But I think our team is one that we can really bounce back from anything. We’ve been through a lot on and off the floor, and I don’t think anything fazes us. We’re going to be able to still get out there and play, no matter what is going on around us.
Junior guard La’Keisha On the team’s confidence
I think we’re playing confidently and trusting each other more. We’re more cohesive on and off the court. We’re trying not to look too far ahead and take it one game at a time.
On looking to the future
We control our own destiny right now. We need everything we can possibly get to get into the [NCAA] Tournament. But we are trying to take it one game at a time.
On how the team survived the slow start
I think it was a total team effort. We realized we were down early after the slow start. In our huddles and timeouts, everyone from player one to player 12 was encouraging and brining energy. I think we fed off that bench energy.
Senior guard Valerie On getting back to her old form
My old self is coming back a bit. I feel some things I used to feel before. The feel of the ball and everything else is coming back slowly, but I’m glad it’s coming back at this time of the year.
On her role on the team
With our team, they make everything seem easy. I have a great time coming in and running the point and the wing. I don’t need to score, but we’ve been winning so that’s a big for us. It makes it easier for me.
