COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina sophomore guards Ramon Galloway and Stephen Spinella will not return to the men’s basketball team in the fall, Gamecock head coach Darrin Horn announced on Tuesday.

“As a staff we wish Ramon and Stephen the best in their futures, both as basketball players and young men,” Horn said. “We’re committed to helping both of them continue their basketball and academic careers. We appreciate what they brought to our program during their time at South Carolina.”

Galloway, a native of Philadelphia, contributed 10.7 points, 2.6 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game during his sophomore season in 2010-11. He played in 61 career games, averaging 9.3 points in 22.9 minutes per game.

“I have enjoyed my two years here at the University of South Carolina,” Galloway said. “At this time I’m going to transfer to another university. I’m looking for a different opportunity and role. I would like to thank Coach Horn and wish him and the program the best.”

Spinnella, a native of Colts Neck, N.J., averaged 2.5 points and 1.4 rebounds in 15 appearances in 2010-11. His top performance of the season came in a 15-point outing versus Radford. He played in 44 career games, averaging 1.8 points in 10.2 minutes per game.

“I enjoyed the past two years here at South Carolina,” Spinella said. “I have decided to pursue other opportunities. I appreciate everything Coach Horn and the team have allowed me to accomplish. I wish the team the best of luck in the future.”
