The Graduation Success Rate (GSR) and Federal Graduation Rate data for the 2001-04 cohort for all Division I institutions has been released, the NCAA announced today.

There was an error with the data submission of the University of South Carolina’s report for football graduation for one year of the cohort. As a result of the error, South Carolina’s actual score will show a significant increase over what is released this afternoon.

“There was an error with the data submitted for the 2004 football cohort,” acknowledged Dr. Zach Kelehear, Faculty Athletics Representative. “Simply put, 11 football graduates were not included. The NCAA has the correct data and has assured the University that these published rates will be updated within the next one-to-two weeks.”

The Graduation Success Rate was developed by the NCAA as part of its academic reform initiative to more accurately measure the success of Division I student-athletes. The NCAA also calculates the federal graduation rate for student-athletes, because it is the only rate to compare student-athletes to the general student body. This year marks the 10th year of GSR data that have been collected. The NCAA began collecting GSR data with the entering freshman class of 1995. The latest entering class for which data are available is 2004.
