COLUMBIA, S.C. – The South Carolina equestrian team moved up two spots in the latest Women’s Intercollegiate Equestrian National Coaches poll, it was announced today.

The Gamecocks had been ranked seventh, but jumped because of their 16-3 win at UT-Martin on Saturday.

The collegiate coaches competing under the National Collegiate Equestrian Association umbrella initiated the national poll.

The poll will be released bi-monthly with the next announcement scheduled for Feb. 29, 2012. South Carolina returns to action next weekend, when the Gamecocks close out their home schedule with a pair of weekend meets. On Feb. 25, the Gamecocks will host Auburn for the team’s annual EquiFest Kids Day, and Carolina will host Baylor the following day. Admission to all Gamecock equestrian competitions is free.
