COLUMBIA, S.C. – Despite handing then-No. 1 Auburn its worst regular season loss since Feb. 9, 2008, and handing then-No. 4 Baylor its worst loss since Nov. 21, 2008, South Carolina did not move up in the latest coaches poll.

The Gamecocks stunned Auburn on Saturday in Blythewood, winning eight of the final ten points to pull off the 12-6 upset. Sunday against Baylor, the Gamecocks scored the final 14 points of the meet as Carolina dropped the Bears, 15-4.

The Gamecocks are now 6-5 this season, but Carolina’s Hunt Seat team is 9-2 and is on a six-meet winning streak. South Carolina’s Western team has won three in a row and is back to 5-5 on the season.

The collegiate coaches competing under the National Collegiate Equestrian Association umbrella initiated the national poll.

The poll will be released bi-monthly with the next announcement scheduled for March 14, 2012.

South Carolina closes out the regular season on March 16, when the Gamecocks travel to Dover, Del., to face Delaware State.
