COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina slipped one spot in the latest coaches poll Wednesday, falling from fifth to sixth. The Gamecocks have not competed since Feb. 25-26, and over the, the top three teams all lost, as Baylor managed to bounce Carolina from the fifth spot.

THe Gamecocks have won three in a row, including upset wins over then-No. 1 Auburn and then-No. 4 Baylor three weeks ago, and are now 6-5 this season.

Carolina’s Hunt Seat team is 9-2 and is on a six-meet winning streak. South Carolina’s Western team has won three in a row and is back to 5-5 on the season.

The collegiate coaches competing under the National Collegiate Equestrian Association umbrella initiated the national poll.

The poll will be released bi-monthly with the next announcement scheduled for March 28, 2012.

South Carolina closes out the regular season on Friday, when the Gamecocks travel to Dover, Del., to face Delaware State.
