COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina’s Andrew Adams was named SEC Men’s Tennis Freshman of the Week, the league announced today. This marks the second time this season that Adams has won the award. The Laurel, Md., native went 4-0 last week in three non-conference matches, including three singles wins.

Adams only allowed his opponents to win nine games in six sets, including two of his wins coming from 6-0 second sets. He has now won seven of his 14 dual matches by blanking the opposition in the second frame. The freshman has become a mainstay in the top half of the Gamecock lineup and leads the club with 22 wins overall and 14 dual-match victories.

No. 40 South Carolina resumes SEC play this weekend against No. 14 Mississippi on Fri., March 23, at 1 p.m. at Carolina Tennis Center. The Gamecocks will then head to Starkville, Miss., to take on No. 12 Mississippi St. on Sunday at 2 p.m.
