COLUMBIA, S.C. – Gamecock Productions, comprised of director Paul Danna, associate director Justin Stoll, assistant director Marissa Kenney and student production assistants, has earned four Southeast Regional Emmy Award nominations and six College Sports Media Award nominations for its outstanding work during the 2011-12 campaign.

“It’s a great honor for Gamecock Productions to be nominated for these awards,” Danna said. “I’m lucky to work with a very talented staff, including our production assistants, who always strive to improve every project. As a department, we want to continue to deliver the best content possible for the great fans of South Carolina. Our mission is to provide original and innovative content to the fans, as well as to provide a great learning environment for our production assistants.

“We want to thank our administration and coaches for supporting our programming ideas. We also want to thank the marketing and sports information departments for all of the assistance they have provided us during these projects.”

The group is nominated for four Southeast Regional Emmys in the categories of Special Program for “Gamecock Confidential: Back to Basics,” in Commercial Campaign for last summer’s “It’s Great To Be A Gamecock” series, in the Editor category for editing of the 2011-12 men’s basketball introduction video and in the Photographer category for work on the 2011 Gamecock football season highlight video. The Emmys will be announced on June 9, 2012, in Atlanta.

Sports Video Group (SVG) and the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) join forces to name the College Sports Media Awards, which nearly doubled its number of total entries from the previous year in 2012. Gamecock Productions earned nominations in several categories, including in the Collegiate Athletics Promotion, PSA or Video Marketing Campaign for the “It’s Great To Be A Gamecock” series and in the Special Feature category for “Gamecock Confidential: Back To Basics.” In the Collegiate Students division, South Carolina was nominated in the category of Promotion, PSA or Video Marketing Campaign for its work on a video feature on football signing day and also for the softball introduction video, and it also earned nominations in the Special Feature category for “Gamecock Confidential – Men’s Soccer – 2011 Conference USA Champs” and “Gamecock Confidential, Women’s Soccer, SEC Champs.”

The group also received several honorable mention nods. In the Collegiate Athletics division category of Promotion, PSA or Video Marketing Campaign the 2011-12 men’s basketball introduction video earned the honor, and in the Special Feature category the “Welcome To Williams-Brice” and 2011 Gamecock football highlight features received accolades. Within the Collegiate Students division, Gamecock Productions collected honorable mention honors for its work on the “Gamecock Spotlight” series. Each production that the staff submitted for the College Sports Media Awards was either nominated for an award or received honorable mention accolades.

Winners of the College Sports Media Awards will be announced by a panel of judges on June 6 at the College Sports Video Summit in Atlanta.

Earlier this spring Gamecock Productions was honored with seven Telly Awards for its work in 2011. The group won two Silver awards, the highest honor, and five Bronze awards for its work on Gamecock athletics.
