Former Gamecocks Ilona Burgrova and Iva Sliskovic were in action early Monday morning at the 2012 London Olympic Games. Burgrova earned her second start for the Czech Republic in a narrow loss to Turkey, while Sliskovic saw her first on-court action of the games in Croatia’s loss to China.

Sliskovic’s first appearance of the Games came in Monday’s 83-58 loss to China. She played six minutes, adding two points and two rebounds to her team’s effort.

Burgrova’s Czech Republic team dropped a 61-57 decision to Turkey, narrowing the gap to four points three times in the final 2:27 of the game. The former Gamecock center snagged four rebounds and added two points in her 22 minutes of action. Despite a difficult shooting game, hitting 1-of-6 from the field, Burgrova was active, setting up Ja ana Veseia basket to start a 10-3 run midway in the third quarter to turn a 13-point deficit into a 38-34 margin in 5:21 left in the period.

Sliskovic and Burgrova will both be back in action on Wed., Aug. 1, when their teams face each other as part of Group A play at 3 p.m. (ET).
