Former South Carolina teammates Ilona Burgrova and Iva Sliskovic squared off in Olympic women’s basketball action Wednesday with Burgrova’s Czech Republic team topping Sliskovic and Croatia 89-70 in Pool A action at Olympic Park – Basketball Arena.

In her third start in as many games, Burgrova shined with 19 points to finish second on her team in scoring. She netted 10 of those points in the fourth quarter when she also picked up five her six blocks to help the Czech Republic outscore its opponent 32-10. Burgrova played just 24 minutes in making her impact on the game.

On the other side, Sliskovic saw her most minutes of the Olympics, scoring four points in her eight minutes on the court. She added a pair of rebounds, an assist and a steal to her team’s effort.

Both teams have two games left in pool play. Sliskovic and Croatia will face Angola next in a 4 a.m. (ET) game on Fri., Aug. 3. Burgrova’s Czech Republic squad matches up with the United States on the same day in a 5:15 p.m. (ET) game scheduled to air live on the NBC Sports Network.
