COLUMBIA, S.C. – Freshman Kayla Lampe of the Gamecock cross country team has been named the AgSouth Athlete of the Week.

Lampe received the honor after leading the Gamecocks to a win at the Gamecock Invitational with a first-place finish. She crossed the finish line with a meet record of 17:10.2, which is the SEC’s best time by a freshman in the 5,000-meter run this season and third best time overall.

A native of Downingtown, Pa., Lampe was one of 10 Gamecocks to finish the meet in the top 15.

Football’s Marcus Lattimore was also considered for the award.
