CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – South Carolina sophomore Kyle Koch won both his singles and doubles matches Saturday to advance to the finals of Flight 1 of both at the UTC/Steve Baras Fall Classic. Koch and Chip Cox will kick off Sunday’s action in doubles at 8:30 a.m., and Koch’s singles final will follow at 10 a.m.

Koch has been solid throughout the tournament, getting stronger with each match. In doubles on Saturday, Koch and Cox fought out an 8-5 victory over Samford’s Alex Sajonz and Zac Dunkle to start the day. Back on the court for singles shortly after the win, Koch faced two-time All-Atlantic Sun selection Jesus Bandres of East Tennessee State. The Bucs’ No. 2 singles player match Koch’s intensity early, and the first set was on serve late. The Gamecock sophomore gutted out a late service break for a 7-5 win then carried that momentum into the second set, which he dominated for a 6-2 victory.

In doubles, Koch and Cox will face UNC Greensboro’s Randy Phillips and Jimmy Dougherty. In singles, Koch will take on Rogerio Ribiero of ETSU.
