COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina athletics has scheduled “#HoopsTakeover” for Friday, November 2, to build buzz for Gamecock men’s and women’s basketball and to promote the availability of season tickets.
The one-of-a-kind event, which will run from 9 a.m.-7 p.m. ET, will include live interviews throughout the day streamed on GamecocksOnline.com, broadcast on 107.5 The Game in Columbia, and distributed via all South Carolina social media channels. The event will conclude with My Carolina’s Basketball Preview Party.
“We are so excited about this idea,” said Assistant Athletics Director Eric Nichols. “We selected a day that we could dominate with basketball coverage as well as have an interactive event to involve all of Gamecock Country.”
The schedule of guests will include current players and coaches, administration, former players, former coaches, national media personalities such as Jay Bilas from ESPN, Jeff Goodman from CBS Sports and television analyst Debbie Antonelli, and other special guests. The 107.5 FM radio hosts will conduct their regular shows from the McGuire Club in the Colonial Life Arena and play-by-play announcer for the Gamecocks Andy Demetra will preempt the Dan Patrick Show from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. to provide wall-to-wall basketball discussion. A full schedule of guests will be released prior to the event.
From 9 a.m.-7 p.m. ET, at GamecocksOnline.com, a live video stream will broadcast the entire day. Several contests will occur throughout #HoopsTakeover on the radio and in social media to encourage and reward interaction.
My Carolina’s Basketball Preview Party will begin at 6:30 and is exclusive to Alumni Association and Gamecock Club members. Attendees will meet the Carolina players and coaches Frank Martin and Dawn Staley, enjoy light food and beverages, and get a preview of the upcoming 2012-13 season. The event is free and more information can be found at MyCarolina.org.
Season tickets for both men’s and women’s basketball will be available at the Colonial Life Arena box office. Women’s basketball season tickets are only $50 or 4 for $100. Men’s basketball season tickets are as low as $125 and lower level seats are also available for $306. Tickets may be purchased online at GamecocksOnline.com or by calling 800.4SC.FANS.
