Junior forward Danielle Au and junior defender Gabrielle Gilbert earned spots on the 2012 Capital One Academic All-District 4 Women’s Soccer Team, the College Sports Information Directors of America announced this afternoon. The 11-spot roster is selected from student-athletes in Alabama, Florida, Georgia and South Carolina.

Au led the Gamecocks in goals, assists and points. Ten of her 11 points came against SEC competition, including a two-goal effort against Auburn. She ranks eighth in South Carolina history with 16 career goals and ninth in career points with 41 (16g, 9a). She has is a two-time member of the SEC Academic Honor Roll.

Gilbert started most of her games as a defender, registering three goals and two assists this season. On Oct. 7 against Georgia, Gilbert scored the game-winner to give the Gamecocks their first regular-season win over Georgia in six years. Gilbert is also a two-time member of the SEC Academic Honor Roll.

This year marks the seventh time since 2004 that South Carolina has had multiple honorees recognized on the CoSIDA Academic All-District Team.

South Carolina and Florida State were the only institutions to place more than one student-athlete on the team, earning two spots apiece.
