2013 Gamecock Volleyball Camps
COLUMBIA, S.C. –
Registration opens today for 2013 summer camps led by Gamecock head volleyball coach Scott Swanson and his staff, with sessions available for all levels of players.
“Our volleyball program is improving each year,” said Swanson, who saw his team post a 18-14 record in his second year, “and we want to share the ideas and techniques that have fostered this improvement with any and all that can attend our camps. South Carolina Volleyball is on the rise, and we are aiming to help increase the level and awareness of our sport through our camps this summer.”
The camps begin again with a Wednesday night series in May called Gamecock Academy. For $30 a night or $125 for all five sessions, players will get instructions on all areas of the game.
The July camp season starts with team camp over July 9-11, with both a commuter and overnight option available for teams. For three days, teams will work on their chemistry and communication on the court to prepare for their high school seasons. Players will get in for $200 per person on the commuter option or $250 if they choose to stay overnight.
All-Skills Camp is next on the schedule, set for July 15-16. For $225 per person, athletes can work on their all-around game with the camp staff, working to make players more valuable for six rotations.
July 17-18 will be positional academies, with the staff working in three areas: hitting, setting and passing (the Libero Academy option). The two-day camps cost $225 per athlete.
Closing the camp season will be the Elite Skills Camps, a three-day affair from July 19-21. For 12 hours a day, players looking to take their game to the next level can receive instruction from coaches and other camp staffers who have seen what it takes to succeed at the college level. An overnight option is available for $350 per person, while commuters can come for $285.
Discounts are available for a variety of groups, including pro-rated discounts on the multi-day camps if one can’t make it for the full session. To get this discount or for teams interested in team camp, contact the South Carolina Volleyball Office and director of operations Shane Wilkinson.
Registration can be done online at SCVolleyballCamps.com or by filling out the brochure and mailing it to the volleyball office listed on the form. Also on the camp website are the parental consent and medical waiver forms required to participate.
All camps are open to any and all entrants, limited only by age, grade level, gender and/or space available. Early registration is encouraged to ensure your spot in the camps.
