COLUMBIA, S.C. — University of South Carolina President Dr. Harris Pastides and First Lady Patricia Moore-Pastides held a ring ceremony for the women’s golf team at the President’s House on Monday afternoon to recognize the team’s record-setting postseason success during the 2011-12 season.

The Gamecocks turned in one of the most successful postseason runs in school history last year as they won their second NCAA East Regional title in three years and finished fifth at the NCAA Championship, which is the highest finish at the event in school history.

President Pastides and the First Lady presented returnees Meredith Swanson, Suzie Lee, Samantha Swinehart and Justine Dreher with NCAA East Regional Championship rings. Former golfers Katie Burnett and Amanda Strang, who both played key roles in the team’s success last season, were unable to attend because they are now competing professionally.
