COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina’s volleyball team made positive steps in its second weekend of its non-traditional schedule, sweeping through six sets against three opponents during the Gamecock Spring Bash at the Volleyball Competition Facility.

The Gamecocks swept past USC Upstate 25-17 and 25-21 in the first matchup of the day. In the afternoon session, South Carolina downed Georgia Southern 25-12 and 25-15 before polishing off the perfect day with two 25-17 wins over Coastal Carolina.

“I felt like we made big time improvements in last week’s practice sessions,” remarked Gamecock head coach Scott Swanson. “Our blocking and defense was outstanding, and we were very low error today. It is exciting to see so many freshmen getting great experience and learning to play with focus and poise.”

The Gamecocks continue the non-traditional season exhibitions on Friday at Clemson.
