COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina rising senior Johnna Letchworth has been selected to compete in the 2013 American Quarter Horse Challenge, set for November 20-21 as part of the AQHA Amateur World Show in Oklahoma City.

“Johnna continues to show everyone that she is one of the best in the country as a horsemanship rider,” South Carolina head coach Boo Major said. “She has been at the top of her game for all three years here at Carolina and I expect nothing less from her next year. She will be a great representative and ambassador for the University of South Carolina at the AQHA sponsored collegiate horsemanship challenge.”

Eight riders, who will be current student-athletes during the 2013-14 season, will represent eight different institutions at the event. Riders were selected using 2012-13 individual statistics for horsemanship.

The preliminaries take place Wednesday, November 20 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and the finals will take place the evening of November 21.

The collegiate riders selected for the AQHA Horsemanship Challenge are as follows:

· Lauren Crivelli, Fresno State
· Erin Gillette, TCU
· Molli Jacobs, Texas A&M
· Katy Krshka, Oklahoma State
· Johnna Letchworth, South Carolina
· Parris Rice, Baylor
· Stephanie Rucci, Auburn
· Alternate – Paige Stawicki, Georgia
