LAUSANNE, Switzerland — South Carolina junior Justine Dreher opened the Women’s Swiss International Amateur Championship with a 4-over 76 on Friday to finish the day in a tie for 11th at the Golf Club de Lausanne.
A native of Valbonne, France, Dreher recorded one birdie and five bogeys on the day and is six shots back of tournament leader Claudia Chemin, who fired a 2-under 70. Dreher is coming off a stellar run to the match-play quarterfinals at the Ladies’ British Open Amateur Championship earlier this month. Rising sophomore Karoline Woie is also playing in the event and is in a tie for 36th after posting an 83 (+11).
Dreher is slated to tee off in the second round on Saturday at 8:30 a.m. CEST, while Woie will tee off at 9:20. The tournament field will be cut to 18 golfers for the final two rounds, which will be played on Sunday.
