COLUMBIA, S.C. — South Carolina junior Sean Kelly will begin play in the 88th U.S. Amateur Public Links Championship on Monday at Laurel Hill Golf Club in Lorton, Va.

The championship, which runs through July 20 at the par-70, 7,022-yard setup at Laurel Hill, will begin with a field of 156 golfers. After 36 holes of stroke play, the field will be cut to the low 64 scorers for six rounds of match play.

Kelly made the championship field by winning a sectional qualifier at Jacaranda Golf Club in Plantation, Fla., in June. Kelly carded rounds of 69 (-2) and 68 (-3) to win medalist honors by four strokes.

A native of Staten Island, N.Y., Kelly has had a solid summer, including a runner-up finish at the Florida State Amateur Championship with rounds of 66-79-75-69=289 (+7).

Kelly is scheduled to tee off in the first round on Monday at 12:10 p.m. Live scoring will be available at USGA.org.
