Five days away from the start of Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame Enshrinement Weekend for South Carolina women’s basketball head coach Dawn Staley, GamecocksOnline.com is counting down her top five on-court memories.

Undefeated High School Career (1987-89)

Dawn Staley found her love and instinct for the game of basketball on the courts around the Raymond Rosen Projects in North Philadelphia, battling for time and respect as often the only girl on the court. There she stoked the competitive fire that would become as much her trademark as any basketball skill.

Joining the team at Dobbins Tech for the 1986-87 season, Staley was an immediate force in the Philadelphia Public League. Instantly a starter as a sophomore, she led her team to 60 straight victories and three city championships. As a senior, Staley was named USA Today National High School Player of the Year.
