CARY, N.C. – No. 32 Tsvetan Mihov and Thiago Pinheiro of South Carolina moved into the quarterfinals of the ITA Carolina Regional with a steady win Saturday. Mihov bowed out of the singles bracket with a loss, and the Gamecocks’ other ranked doubles team suffered a setback in the round of 16.

Mihov and Pinheiro have been sharp throughout the tournament and continued that momentum on Saturday. Facing Wake Forest’s Pedro Dumont and Jaya Billa, the Gamecock tandem were efficient in an 8-5 victory to move into the quarterfinals, where they will take on No. 30 Colin Roller and Joran Vliegen of East Carolina.

Ranked No. 24 in the nation, South Carolina’s other ranked duo of Chip Cox and Kyle Koch could not push past the tournament’s No. 10 seed in NC State’s Robbie Mudge and Sean Weber, falling 8-5.

In singles action, Mihov had a tough time with North Carolina’s Brett Clark. The Tar Heels’ sophomore surged ahead early and refused to let Mihov get his footing in a 6-3, 6-1 victory.
