COLUMBIA, S.C.Kurtis Turner from the South Carolina men’s soccer team has been named AgSouth Athlete of the Week.

With just three minutes remaining in the Gamecocks’ home match against FAU on Wednesday, Turner put away the game-winner. The tally in the 2-1 victory was the freshman’s first career goal. He also put three of his four shots in the match on frame.

Later in the week in a 1-1 tie on the road at Marshall, Turner assisted on senior J.P. Rafferty’s equalizer in the second half. Turner set up Rafferty’s header on a long cross off of a free kick. The assist is his fourth of the season and breaks him into the South Carolina top-10 in assists by a freshman.

After the 1-0-1 weekend, Turner ranks third on the team with six points.
