COLUMBIA, S.C. – Aleighsa Welch from the South Carolina women’s basketball team has been named AgSouth Athlete of the Week.

Welch averaged a double-double for the week and continued her streak of leading the team (or tying for the lead) in rebounds in every game this season. She ripped down a career-high 17 rebounds against College of Charleston, the sixth-most in Colonial Life Arena history. She also posted 12 of her 17 rebounds versus CofC in the first half when the offense was struggling and was key in the team’s recovery midway through the half. Welch had a well-rounded game against Seton Hall, including a career-high-tying four assists.
