COLUMBIA, S.C. — Junior forward Aleighsa Welch from the South Carolina women’s basketball team has been named AgSouth Athlete of the Week.

Welch scored all 18 of her points at Charlotte in the second half, including eight straight as part of a 14-2 run that delivered the victory after the Gamecocks held a slim one-point lead at the half. She added five rebounds (of 6 total) and two steals (of 3 total) in the second half as well, missing all but the first six minutes of the first half in foul trouble.

She was was a perfect 6-of-6 from the floor against NC Central, her career best perfect shooting night. Welch scored her 13 points against NC Central playing just 17 minutes in the game.
