COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina junior defender Braeden Troyer was named to the NSCAA (National Soccer Coaches Association of America) Scholar All-South Region Second-Team, the organization announced this week.
Troyer continues to garner awards as he was named All-Conference USA for the third-consecutive season, C-USA All-Academic for the second-straight season and was also selected to his second-straight Capital One Academic All-District 4 team last month. The defender maintains a 4.0 GPA as a mathematics major with minors in risk management and insurance. Playing nearly every minute of his career, Troyer made the move from midfielder to central defender this season. He has scored two goals this season, both in league play. The first was the game-winner at Charlotte in the C-USA opener. The Gamecock later scored on a penalty kick in a 2-1 win over FAU. Troyer played an integral part of South Carolina’s six shutouts this season.
