COLUMBIA, S.C. – Senior Johnna Letchworth and junior Katherine Schmidt were both named to TheBigSpur.com’s Top 20 Student-Athletes of 2013 list on Tuesday. The Gamecocks (6-2, 1-2 SEC) are currently ranked No. 1 in the country, after posting a program record six wins during the fall semester.

“This is a great recognition for both Katherine and Johnna, and for our team,” South Carolina head coach Boo Major said. “2013 was a great year for our team and we had a lot of individuals, including Johnna and Katherine, step up for us. Winning last year’s SEC Championship was a great accomplishment for this program, and I think we’re off to a great start to this season.”

Letchworth and Schmidt were both named NCEA National Riders of the Month in September and October. The duo also earned SEC Rider of the Month accolades in October.
