Lloyd, who joined the South Carolina soccer program in its second year of existence in 1996, was the Gamecocks’ biggest threat in the attack during her tenure and remains not only the top scorer in South Carolina history, but one of the best in SEC history. The native of Charleston, S.C., still holds school records for goals in a season (14: 1996, 1999), career goals (50), game-winning goals in a season (6: 1999), game-winning goals in a career (16) and points in a season (34: 1996). Her career goals mark of 50 currently ranks seventh in the SEC, while her career point total of 115 is eighth.
As a freshman, she helped the Gamecocks earn the program’s first win over a Top 10 opponent when they defeated No. 9 Clemson 3-2 on September 18, 1996. The following year, Lloyd earned All-SEC honors for the first time after scoring 11 goals to go with three assists. During her junior season, she helped the Gamecocks to an 11-win season en route to their first trip to both the SEC and NCAA tournaments.
Duing her final season in Garnet and Black, Lloyd tied a career-best 14 goals as she led the Gamecocks back to the SEC tournament after posting a then-program best 14 wins. Lloyd was rewarded by being named to the All-SEC first team.
The consummate example of a student-athlete, Lloyd was named to the SEC Academic Honor Roll during her final three years at South Carolina, and as a senior, she was selected to the CoSIDA Academic All-America second team.
