COLUMBIA, S.C. – Junior goalkeeper Sabrina D’Angelo was selected to the 2013 Soccer America MVPs second team, the publication released today.

The Welland, Ontario native was one of three players from the Southeastern Conference selected to the second team. It is the second time she has earned postseason accolades from the publication during her career, garnering All-Freshman Team honors in 2011.

Last month, D’Angelo was named to the NSCAA All-America First Team after posting one the best seasons for a keeper in school history. She then joined former Gamecock Blakely Mattern as the only student-athletes in program history to earn a place on both the NSCAA’s All-America and Scholar All-America first teams in the same season.

D’Angelo tripled her previous season high in shutouts with 12 this fall and recorded a 0.59 goals against average. For the second time in three seasons, she was named SEC Defensive Player of the Year and earned All-SEC honors for the third consecutive season.

In December, she became the first athlete in a program history to be selected as a semifinalist for the prestigious MAC Hermann Trophy.
