Gamecocks in First Place After Two Rounds of Florida State Match-Up

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. –
The South Carolina women’s golf team shot a 5-over 293 on Saturday at the SouthWood Golf Club to finish in first place after two rounds of the Florida State Match-Up hosted by Florida State University. The Gamecocks currently have a two-round score of 586 (+10).
South Carolina has a 3-stroke lead over second place Clemson. The Tigers shot a second-round 292 and currently have a total score of 589 (+13). Florida State finished the day in third place with a score of 592 (+16).
Sophomore Sarah Schmelzel, junior Justine Dreher and senior Samantha Swinehart all carded an even-par 72 in Saturday’s second round. Schmezel finished the day in a tie for second place with a total score of 142 (-2). Dreher climbed 19 spots on the individual leaderboard as she is currently in a tie for eighth place with a total score of 148 (+4). Swinehart also made a significant move up the leaderboard, finishing the day with a total score of 149 (+5) and is in a tie for tenth place.
Senior Suzie Lee is currently in a tie for 19th place after carding a 5-over 77, giving her a two-round score of 150 (+6).
Freshman Katelyn Dambaugh is currently in a tie for 28th place after carding a second-round 6-over 78 for a total socre of 152 (+8).
Competing in the tournament as an individual, Jia Xin Yang shot a 6-over 150, giving the freshman a total score of 150 (+6) and putting her in a tie for 19th place.
Matilda Castren of Florida State is currently at the top of the individual leaderboard after shooting a second-round 4-under 68 giving her a total score 136 (-8). In a tie for second place are Schmelzel and Clemson’s Ashlan Ramsey with two-round scores of 142 (-2).
