Gamecocks Fall to No. 4 Florida State, 5-0

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — The South Carolina sand volleyball team dropped a 5-0 decision to fourth-ranked Florida State on Saturday morning at the FSU Sand Volleyball Complex.

With the loss, the Gamecocks fall to 4-7 on the season. The Seminoles improve to 8-1 overall.

On court No. 1, South Carolina’s Paige Wheeler and Megan Kent lost to Florida State’s top pair of Jace Pardon and Aurora Davis, 21-14 and 21-11.

The Gamecock duo of Mikaela Christiaansen and Sarah Blomgren came up short in their match at No. 2 against the Seminoles’ Stephanie Pellitteri and Nina Pellitteri, losing in straight sets by the scores of 21-17 and 21-13.

In the No. 3 pairs match, Jordan Loney and Jade Vitt fell to Florida State’s Julie Brown and Melanie Pavels, 21-15 and 21-13.

On court No. 4, Florida State’s Annie Montgomery and Julia Thompson defeated South Carolina’s Litsa Darby and Chynna Ratner by the scores of 21-9 and 21-14.

The Gamecocks’ No. 5 pair of KoKo Atoa-Williams and Erin Neuenfeldt lost to Florida State’s Fatma Yildirim and Sarah Wickstrom, 21-9 and 21-12.

South Carolina has two duals remaining today as it will face Jacksonville at 1 p.m. and LSU at 4.
