Gamecock Equestrian Lands 20 Riders on NCEA Academic Honor Roll
April 3, 2014
COLUMBIA, S.C. – Twenty South Carolina equestrians were named to the National Collegiate Equestrian Association’s Academic Honor Roll, it was announced earlier this week. Six Gamecocks were named to the NCEA Academic First Team, five were named to the NCEA Academic Second Team, and one rider was named to the NCEA Academic Honorable Mention list.
“We have an outstanding group of student-athletes who are committed to their academics and its very rewarding to see so many of them recognized on this year’s academic teams,” South Carolina head coach Boo Major said. “We have a terrific academic staff in the Dodie Academic Enrichment Center led by Maria Hickman and our academic adviser Rob Campbell and we certainly appreciate their commitment to our student-athletes’ success. It takes a lot of hard work and discipline to succeed as a student and an athlete, and I’m very proud of all of these young ladies.”
