Gamecock Riders Earn Eight All-SEC Team Selections for 2013-2014

COLUMBIA, S.C. – The University of South Carolina placed seven riders on the 2014 All-SEC Equestrian Team, it was announced today. In all, the seven combined to earn eight All-SEC Team selections, highlighted by Gamecock junior Katherine Schmidt being named to the All-SEC Team in both equitation over fences and equitation on the flat.

“I’m extremely proud of this group and I couldn’t be happier for them,” South Carolina head coach Boo Major said. “This was a very competitive year for the conference, so I think it says a lot about our team that we had so many riders earn All-SEC honors this season. This year, the girls have focused on being supportive of each other and helping their teammates get better, and I think that’s why we’ve had so many folks have such successful seasons.”

Five athletes per event are selected for the All-SEC Team and SEC All-Freshman Team (when possible), and ties are not broken.
