Pinheiro Named to SEC Men's Tennis Community Service Team

COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina junior Thiago Pinheiro was named to the SEC Men’s Tennis Community Service Team, the league announced. The conference sponsors community service teams in all 21 sports to highlight student-athletes who give back to their community.
Pinheiro has been the Gamecocks’ most active contributor to community service efforts this season, participating in the food drive at the South Carolina State Fairgrounds and helping serve lunch at Transitions homeless shelter several times. He organized and sorted through items at the Good Samaritan Thrift Store and did various administrative, organizational and cleaning tasks at Ronald McDonald House. Pinheiro also has assisted with tennis clinics both in Columbia and his hometown of Sao Jose dos Campos, Sao Paulo, Brazil.
The Gamecocks, ranked 30th in the nation this week, kick off action in the SEC Tournament on Thu., Apr. 17, with a 1 p.m. (ET) match against No. 33 Alabama in Nashville.
