The Back Nine with Gamecock Senior Caulder Moore

April 15, 2014

Throughout the spring, Gamecocksonline.com will catch up with each member of the men’s golf team for a feature called The Back Nine, focusing on nine golf-related questions. This week we are featuring senior Caulder Moore.

When did you first start playing golf and what drew you to the game?
I started playing pretty much as soon as I learned to walk. My dad is an avid golfer and a good player. He would take me to hit balls and take me with him to play. My grandfather was also a very good player and played all of the time. I was lucky enough to learn from them and fell in love with the game.

Who is your favorite professional golfer?
Tiger Woods is without a doubt my favorite professional golfer because of the things that he has accomplished. I truly believe that he is without a doubt the best player to ever play the game and I think that even if people don’t like him as a person they have to respect what he has done on the course and what he has done for the game.

What is your favorite golf course that you’ve played?
My favorite golf course that I have ever played is my home course in Charleston, Bulls Bay. It for one is a great course and is always in unbelievable condition, and the atmosphere out there is one of a kind. Everyone knows everyone and it is like one big family.

What is your favorite golf memory?
I have so many golf memories it’s hard to pinpoint one thing that stands out more than others. Making my commitment to play golf here at South Carolina is definitely at the top of the list. I have been a die hard Gamecock since I could remember, and it was a dream come true for me to have the opportunity to be a part of this unbelievable program.

What is the most memorable competition moment of your career?
My most memorable competition moment was winning the State Junior Championship at my home course with a final-round 63. It meant a lot to me to be able to play so well in front of so many friends and family.

Who has influenced you most in your golf career?
My parents have been the most influential people in my golf career. My dad and my mom have taken me to countless tournaments and have been there for me through all of the ups and downs. They have provided me with so much support and they would do anything for me. I have been very lucky to have them not only for golf but for everything.

What are you most known for in golf/your strong suit?
I am without a doubt most known for my incredible ball striking and length off the tee. It is rare for me to miss more than a couple of greens per round.

What is your dream foursome and what golf course would you play?
My dream would be to play a five-man game of flip at Augusta National with my dad my brother, Bill Smunk, and Tiger Woods. I think this would be so much fun because of it being friends, family, the best player and the best golf course.
